During the past years, power-derived fuels have moved into the center of the debate on a future renewable energy supply for the aviation sector, due to a continued need for liquid fuels in aviation and serious concerns about the sustainability of biofuel production at the scale of future fuel demand. Basic characteristics of kerosene synthesis via power-to-liquid pathways are reviewed with focus on the application of synthetic kerosenes in civil aviation. Furthermore, alternative use cases for green hydrogen in aviation are discussed.

摘要

During the past years, power-derived fuels have moved into the center of the debate on a future renewable energy supply for the aviation sector, due to a continued need for liquid fuels in aviation and serious concerns about the sustainability of biofuel production at the scale of future fuel demand. Basic characteristics of kerosene synthesis via power-to-liquid pathways are reviewed with focus on the application of synthetic kerosenes in civil aviation. Furthermore, alternative use cases for green hydrogen in aviation are discussed.
