Distributed systems are everywhere. They include emerging computation and communication environments like the cloud and the Internet of Things (IoT), novel computational architectures such as the ones based on microservices, as well as new development practices like Dev-Ops. Distributed systems also power the training and deployment of Machine Learning, including Generative Machine Learning models based on Large Language Models (LLMs). These distributed systems delivered unprecedented scalability and are now the fabric of our society, as humans are affected by their operation as users, customers and even as components, every day of our lives.

摘要

Distributed systems are everywhere. They include emerging computation and communication environments like the cloud and the Internet of Things (IoT), novel computational architectures such as the ones based on microservices, as well as new development practices like Dev-Ops. Distributed systems also power the training and deployment of Machine Learning, including Generative Machine Learning models based on Large Language Models (LLMs). These distributed systems delivered unprecedented scalability and are now the fabric of our society, as humans are affected by their operation as users, customers and even as components, every day of our lives.
