Vehicle repositioning from a single-driver perspective (i.e., taxi routing) has a relatively long history of research since taxi service has been in existence long before the emergence of rideshare platforms. Likewise, research on RL-based approaches for this problem (see Table B.4) also appeared earlier than that on system-level vehicle repositioning.
