This final chapter analyses the European Union’s relational identity, emphasising openness, diversity and constitutional limits. The relational identity of the Union takes on various meanings both in its relationship with respect to State peculiarities and with respect to the very way of living together. This means that relational identity does not exist without a communitas behind it that ontologically nerves it. And this community must be based on the munus, understood as a denial of the mere synallagmatic mercantilist relationship. This idea of communitas is naturally refracted both in a new way of understanding politics and in an innovative epistemology of International Law as a community of values, where the contribution of Comparative Law (cum-paro) is absolutely necessary. Attention: defending values shloud not be about intransigence, but openness yo other realities. An exclusionary defense is destined either to fail or to hegemonic reconquest.

Epilogue. The Relational Identity: Openness and Limits

摘要
