Conceptualizing an Agent-Based Simulation for Integrated Urban Transport
摘要
Integrating urban parcel transportation into a public passenger transport system is a promising concept to reduce traffic congestion and use resources more efficiently. However, the last decade saw several pilot projects failing due to the lack of long-term support and profitability. Integrated transport relies on a range of stakeholders, which differ in their incentives and want to profit from the system. Existing reviews show that financial viability is an important aspect for the long-term success of such projects. For example, partially financing the public transit system with the revenue gained from parcel transportation may contribute to the success of a shared transport system from the point of view of public transit providers. This work conceptualizes an agent-based simulation model to evaluate business schemes for an integrated passenger and freight urban transport system.
