This chapter provides an overview of the development and anatomy of the meniscus as well as the epidemiology, clinical presentation, recommended diagnostic imaging, treatment methods, and outcomes for pediatric and adolescent patients with traumatic meniscal injuries (i.e., tears) and discoid lateral meniscus. Arthroscopic meniscal repair is emphasized for children when surgically addressing meniscus tears or symptomatic discoid lateral meniscus due to poor outcomes with total meniscectomy and the greater vascularity and associated greater healing potential than adult menisci.
