Given that patient outcomes following an isolated anterior cruciate ligament rupture, surgery, and rehabilitation are less than ideal, achieving effective return to sport performance after a multiple ligament knee injury (MLKI) is sustained is a daunting task. This chapter describes existing MLKI epidemiology, classification, and patient outcome information for the purpose of improving outcome expectations among this highly motivated patient group. Issues related to patient-reported outcome measurements, return to sport decision-making, and deficiencies in current medical literature are synthesized for the purpose of improving rehabilitation planning to mitigate functional inhibition, integrate external attentional focus functional tasks, and develop a more comprehensive whole body approach to functional recovery with consideration for the omnipresent influences of fascial structures throughout the body.
