Sports After Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty: Outcome and Restriction
摘要
The utilization of reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) was previously constrained to geriatric patients with diminished functional requirements. Nonetheless, with the passage of time, the indications for this surgical intervention have broadened, encompassing patients with gradually rising levels of physical exertion and athletic necessities. Consequently, the prevalence of this implant configuration has soared over the last 20 years, with an escalating number of younger patients electing for RTSA. The demand for resuming sports activities has emerged as a crucial aspect for patients undergoing arthroplasty. As a result, considerable scientific inquisitiveness has grown with regard to the timeline and intensity of sporting activities after RTSA. Although there are no conclusive contraindications, it is commonly acknowledged among surgeons that physical activities involving contact and frequent arm movements above the head should be abstained from following a RTSA.
