Bone healing is a fascinating biological process that leads to “restitutio ad integrum” of the damaged tissue without creating scar tissue. On the other hand, soft tissue healing is a different and complex process where the scar tissue is the primary regeneration outcome. Both healing processes involve complex and competitive coordinated activation of multiple diverse cell groups. This chapter discusses the whole process of bone and soft tissues healing with special attention to the processes within the cells and cellular responses to injuries, remodeling, inflammation, and coordination of healing.
