Unlocking the Power of Virtual and Augmented Reality in Education: A Case Study in History Instruction
摘要
The transformative integration of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies within education focuses on their application in history education. The research explores how AR technology enhances the educational experience by seamlessly incorporating a word-related layer into studying history. The findings from a comprehensive study involving 71 high school students reveal the profound impact of AR and VR on history instruction, highlighting their potential to significantly enhance the effectiveness of traditional pedagogical methods. Through the lens of this research, it becomes evident that these technological advancements offer a bridge between the static world of conventional textbooks and the dynamic, digital dimension of contemporary learning. AR and VR technologies transform the educational landscape by providing educators and students with more engaging and immersive learning environments. AR and VR serve as pivotal connectors between conventional teaching tools and the evolving landscape of digital education, bolstering our commitment to improving the future of the educational system. In addition to presenting research findings, the researcher also explores strategies aimed at elevating the utilisation of AR and VR in education. They aspire to encourage more educators to embrace these technologies in their teaching practices, ultimately leading to a more dynamic and effective educational system. As the researcher navigates this exploration, the potential for a transformative shift in educational paradigms becomes illuminated, promising a future where learning is not confined to textbooks but extends into engaging immersive digital realms. In conclusion, this chapter demonstrates AR and VR’s innovative possibilities, making history education more engaging and effective for the lifelong learners of today’s globalised digital age.
