Newton’s laws govern the motion of particles with mass subjected to force. This chapter introduces the concepts of particle dynamics using the mathematics typically expected for a first course in dynamics (calculus, linear algebra, and ordinary differential equations). In addition to introducing fundamental physical principles, this chapter provides an opportunity to get familiar with the notation used throughout the book to describe the state of motion in the simplest possible mathematical context.

摘要

Newton’s laws govern the motion of particles with mass subjected to force. This chapter introduces the concepts of particle dynamics using the mathematics typically expected for a first course in dynamics (calculus, linear algebra, and ordinary differential equations). In addition to introducing fundamental physical principles, this chapter provides an opportunity to get familiar with the notation used throughout the book to describe the state of motion in the simplest possible mathematical context.
