Humanizing Social Justice in Educational Leadership: A Critical Perspective
摘要
Promoting the intersection of humanity and social justice in educational leadership is framed on the rights of individuals in both social and political contexts. Humanity and social justice recognize a person’s freedom and ability to make choices free from fear, intimidation, harassment, and/or discrimination. It is critically relevant that strategies and initiatives in these overlapping contexts, most specifically educational contexts and learning environments, should focus on human rights and social challenges through the design of effective polices, programs, and practices. Diverse intersectional challenges are not specifically limited to underrepresentation of marginalized racial and ethnic minority groups (e.g., immigrants, refugees), domestic and sexual violence against women, reproductive rights, hypersexualization of girls, human trafficking, or religious affiliations. Rather, educational leadership research should be understood and recognized by the principles of humanity, equality, and respect for all individuals, which are basic human rights. This chapter advocates for educational leadership integrated through the critical lens of humanity and social justice in direct actions to address educational injustices.
