Prostate Cancer: Epidemiology
摘要
Prostate cancer (PCA) is one of the most common malignancies in the male population worldwide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2018, worldwide, 1.28 million men were estimated to have been diagnosed with prostate cancer (accounting for 13.5% of all cancer cases in men), with almost 80.5% of the cases (1,027,657) occurring in highly developed regions. With an estimated 358,989 deaths in 2018, prostate cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer death in men (accounting for 6.7% of all cancer deaths in men). In addition to older age, risk factors are above all a positive family history, some germline mutations and African descent. Other potential risk factors for the development of prostate cancer are food, infections, and lifestyle.
