In turkey meat-producing countries, turkey coronavirus (TCoV) enteritis is an endemic and contagious disease that causes severe economic losses. TCoV causes the disease, which primarily affects the intestinal villi of turkey rather than its respiratory or reproductive tracts. The lack of definitive clinical signs, other factors contributing to the disease, and the lack of adequate diagnostic protocols all complicate the diagnosis. Despite previous trials for the development of an effective candidate vaccine, there is currently no commercially available vaccine for TCoV or a concept vaccine that can protect from the virus in the field. In this chapter, we will explore current knowledge about TCoV, including its history, current epidemiological situation, classification, implications for disease, diagnosis, and control.
