Intertrigo is an inflammatory skin condition that specifically affects the flexural surfaces, primarily the skin folds of the body. Common triggers include warmer temperatures, friction, moisture, and poor ventilation. Intertrigo is relatively common in older adults affected by age-related skin changes, comorbidities, obesity, and level of function. Diagnosis may be challenging as variations exist in presentation. The presence of several overlapping conditions tends to complicate management, and to effectively deal with the comorbidities that relate to intertrigo. Management involves a multi-faceted approach primarily involving prevention and subsequent treatment, besides addressing caregiver and patient education. The chapter aims to explore the unique aspects of intertrigo in older adults, its prevalence in the geriatric population, etiologies, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and management, with an aim to minimize recurrence and complications.

摘要
