Similar to diagnostic imaging interventional radiology plays an important role in the management of emergencies in urology. Interventional radiology offers a wide range of vascular and non-vascular interventions including embolization, thrombolysis, renal artery stenting, percutaneous nephrostomy, treatment of urine leakage and percutaneous drainage. In the following overview, relevant techniques will be presented and discussed.
