Management of Intraoperative Complications in Open Procedures

Intraoperative complications are a reality in surgery. Profound knowledge of the anatomy involved is a pre-requisite for any surgery. This chapter aims at understanding the etiology of intraoperative complications, how they can be detected, avoided and finally how they should be treated. The chapter covers vascular and intestinal complications as well as how to cope with injuries of solid organs during urologic surgery.
