DUEL Model
摘要
The DUEL Model of change readiness depicts a change’s current impact on individuals’ needs on a spectrum of intensity in four dimensions: Details, Unknowns, Emotion, and Legacy. This model provides a standard framework for building individual and shared awareness and readiness for even chaotic, unpredictable, or uncontrollable changes and disruptions in organizations. The DUEL Model shifts change readiness focus from organizational readiness to collective individual readiness based on the discovered connection between the success of organizational success in adapting to a change and the cumulative individual responses of those who are impacted by it. Individuals’ explicit, multidimensional responses to a change are based on (a) the change’s perceived impact on personal or shared needs and (b) the level of support, connection, and trust they experience in and through the process of adapting to the change. Change recipients’ need for openness, trust, and increased shared awareness has increased as more unexpected, uncontrollable, and chaotic changes have emerged on the global landscape. The DUEL Model provides a means to clarify ambiguity in change by listening to each other and building community, making it ideally suited for servant leadership. The model provides the language and structure to empower change recipients to help each other adapt to the toughest changes, optimizing awareness and operational care for needs in times of radical or intense change.
