Negative Leadership
摘要
Negative leadership, which arises from the selfish motives and unethical conduct of those in power, refers to the disapproved and harmful behavior of a leader that leads to decreased morale, loss of motivation among followers, reduced productivity, and ultimately the decline of the organization in the long run. It is often associated with corrupt, incompetent, ineffective, and exploitative leaders. Such leaders tend to provoke negative emotions such as anger, resentment, and a sense of injustice among their subordinates. Abusive supervision, petty tyranny, supervisor aggression and undermining, negative mentoring experiences, workplace bullying, destructive or toxic leadership, and traits seen in corporate psychopaths, hubristic, Machiavellian, and narcissistic leaders lay the foundation of negative leadership, and their consequences often manifest as harassment, discrimination, injustice, and the creation of a toxic work environment driven by greed and self-interest.
