Role of Self-Awareness and Selfless Service in Positive Leadership
摘要
The erosion of ethical values across corporate, political, and social spheres underscores the urgent need for a shift toward positive leadership paradigms grounded in ethics and spirituality. This article examines the central role of self-awareness and selfless service in shaping transformational, authentic, ethical, servant, and spiritual leadership. Building on prior empirical and conceptual studies, as well as phenomenological accounts of leaders, the article positions self-awareness as a dispositional capacity cultivated through mindfulness, reflection, and insight, yet one that remains insufficiently emphasized in executive development. It argues that positive acts of service, when not anchored in deep self-awareness, risk reinforcing ego-driven or hidden agendas rather than authentic moral commitment. The synthesis of self-awareness and selfless service is proposed as a foundational framework through which leaders embody integrity, transparency, universal responsibility, and spiritual maturity, thereby fostering trust, moral growth, and meaningful transformation in organizations and society.
