Entrepreneurial leadership (EL) fuses the opportunity-seeking rationale of entrepreneurship with the relational influence of leadership to spur value creation in uncertain, resource-constrained settings. EL is most commonly conveyed through four interlocking behaviors—articulating an opportunity-seeking vision, proactively experimenting and risk-taking, fostering innovativeness, and orchestrating resources via influence. Meta-analytic evidence associates these behaviors with increased creativity, agility, and performance across start-ups, corporations, and social ventures, especially in turbulent markets; evidence also links EL to higher employee engagement and venture resilience. Systematic reviews nonetheless highlight unresolved issues regarding conceptual boundaries, cross-cultural validity, and measurement, calling for multidimensional, follower-sensitive scales, sustainability metrics, and multilevel, longitudinal designs that trace how EL develops over time. By integrating the construct’s evolution, empirical findings, instruments, and pedagogical approaches, this entry positions EL as a pragmatic framework for nurturing creative agency able to navigate volatility and generate durable economic and social value.
