Teacher Education for Pedagogical Uses of Corpora
摘要
Corpora use among language teachers, especially in primary and secondary schools, remains limited. Addressing this reluctance requires specific teacher education which involves enhancing teachers’ technical skills, corpus linguistics expertise, as well as pedagogical abilities to create corpus-based materials and activities and integrate them into classroom procedures. Various approaches to teacher education have been reported, which include intensive workshops and courses on corpus linguistics, corpus-assisted language learning, as well as training in corpus-based language pedagogy. In addition, complementary methods like corpus-based reflective practice have been proposed. Research on the effectiveness of these different approaches uses various methods but faces generalisation challenges. However, even well-designed training programmes may not suffice. Accessible resources and tools are needed, including simplified text collections, user-friendly corpus-querying tools, and resource banks with ready-to-use corpus-based materials and activities. These resources can ease preparation time, inspire creative use, and foster gradual confidence in incorporating corpora into teaching.
