Pedagogical guides for data-driven learning (DDL) can function as resources for both language learners and educators. Existing guides cover a range of topics, from selecting an appropriate corpus and corpus tool to strategies for querying copora and interpreting the results. Some of the guides targeted at teachers additionally discuss the design of DDL tasks and explain how DDL can be integrated into everyday teaching and learning practices. Pedagogical guides come in diverse formats, ranging from printed textbooks published by academic presses to multimodal webbooks released under Creative Commons licences, and from individual paper-based worksheets to interactive online courses featuring instructional videos and interactive tasks with automatic feedback. The affordances of pedagogical guides can be examined in terms of their accessibility. Some formats suffer from limited physical, intellectual, and/or social accessibility. In recent years, the emergence of Open Educational Resources (OERs) and of guides coauthored with (trainee) teachers has contributed to the growth and increased accessibility of pedagogical guides for DDL. While acknowledging the current dominance of resources focusing on DDL for English L2 in tertiary education, recent developments point to an enduring commitment to improving the accessibility of pedagogical guides for DDL in a variety of teaching and learning contexts.
