Humanising Language Learning in MALL Environments
摘要
This entry discusses humanising pedagogy in mobile-assisted language learning (MALL) in the context of rapid technological change, including the miniaturisation and ubiquity of mobile devices, expanding mobile connectivity, and the increasing presence of artificial intelligence in language education. While mobile technologies offer affordances such as flexibility, personalisation, and enhanced access to language input and interaction, concerns have emerged regarding their impact on learner agency, well-being, and meaningful human interaction. Drawing on contemporary MALL research, the entry conceptualises humanising MALL through six interrelated dimensions: agency and personalisation, digital literacy, digital well-being, human relationships and interaction, positive computing, and equity and access. Emphasising collective agency, it highlights the shared roles of learners, teachers, institutions, families, and communities in shaping human-centred mobile learning ecologies.
