Evidence is available of a quantity of banknotes on which traces of cocaine have been found. The question is whether this evidence is associated with a person who is or is not associated with criminal activity. A procedure for the determination of the associated likelihood ratio is described when the evidential data are believed to be driven by an underlying latent Markov chain.
