Target volume delineation for head and neck cancers is challenging. This chapter summarizes the normal anatomy of the head and neck region and the cranial nerve anatomy applicable to radiotherapy planning for head and neck cancers. It also provides a guideline for contouring important organs at risk in the head and neck region, changes in anatomy due to tumours and patterns of spread and target volume delineation for different types of head and neck tumours.
