The 39-item Three-Dimensional Wisdom Scale (3D-WS) is a self-report measure designed to comprehensively assess wisdom, which encompasses cognitive, reflective, and affective dimensions. This chapter presents the development, validation, and adaptation of the 3D-WS to various cultural contexts. The 3D-WS demonstrated an adequate factor structure, validity, and internal consistency. It has also been widely used and validated in multiple languages, including Chinese, Korean, Polish, and Spanish. A shorter 12-item version has been validated to enhance research efficiency. However, the 3D-WS has some limitations, such as social desirability bias and variations of the factor structure across cultural contexts. Thus, cultural adaptation is crucial before applying the scale to a new context. Overall, the 3D-WS is a valuable tool for assessing wisdom, offering insights into different aspects of individuals’ wisdom. While the positive relation between wisdom and mindfulness has been well-documented in cross-sectional studies, more work is needed for demonstrating the longitudinal relation between wisdom and mindfulness.

摘要
