Introduction to Bacterial Metabolism and Different Infections
摘要
Bacterial metabolism is a foundational aspect of microbial life, governing not only the biochemical processes essential for growth and survival but also the dynamic interactions between pathogens and their hosts. In the context of infectious diseases, metabolism acts as both a driver and a modulator of pathogenesis, manipulating virulence, immune evasion, and therapeutic outcomes. This chapter establishes the composite roles of bacterial metabolism in infection biology, portrayed on a variety of recent articles that collectively illustrate how metabolic pathways shape microbial behavior and host responses.
