Hearing-impaired women have difficulties accessing health services and information on women’s health. Difficulties in literacy, reading comprehension, and using sign language make it difficult to access information and cause communication barriers. One of the most common health problems experienced by hearing-impaired women is women’s health problems. The birth process is also an important period in which hearing-impaired women experience difficulties. Hearing-impaired women are more likely to experience risky pregnancy conditions such as difficulty in participating in pregnancy follow-up in the prenatal period, preeclampsia, eclampsia, and gestational diabetes than hearing women. The biggest problems experienced during the delivery process are not being asked about the mode of delivery, inadequate communication with health professionals during delivery, and inadequate interpreter support. In the postpartum period, it is reported that hearing-impaired women have more difficulties in the follow-up of postpartum bleeding and management of infections compared to hearing women and that they are hospitalized more frequently than hearing women because they cannot manage this process. They also have problems in infant care and breastfeeding in the postpartum period. Therefore, there is a need to increase training and counseling services and support hearing-impaired women in order to reduce these problems and minimize the communication barriers they experience. Health care services specific to hearing-impaired women should be provided in the prenatal, birth, and postnatal period. Health centers should have sign language interpreters and the number of health personnel who know sign language should be increased.
