During right hemicolectomy, the superior mesenteric vein was transected. Repair was done with cadaver vein graft. The venous outflow of the jejunum and ileum is via the superior mesenteric vein. Transection of the superior mesenteric vein leads to small intestinal infarction unless venous outflow is restored.
