A rectosigmoid colonic stricture adjacent to diverticular disease was resected. Because the colonic lumen at the stricture could not be examined endoscopically before surgery, high ligation of the inferior mesenteric artery with resection of mesenteric lymph nodes draining the sigmoid colon was done in case the stricture was caused by cancer.

摘要
