Geographies of Alternative Communities in Remote Areas of the Global North as a Nature-Based Pathway for Adaptation to Climate Change
摘要
Alternative and intentional communities usually have adaptation to the effects of global climate change (GCC) among their goals. One of its most characteristic organizational forms is the eco-village. Although in statistical terms they still affect a limited number of people, they can be an example for the whole of the population about alternative lifestyles that nature-based solutions usually take for their community organization. In this sense, they constitute authentic socio-spatial experiments that propose various micro solutions and actions to the environmental problems of the Anthropocene, generated by Western mass societies. They are usually constituted in small communities located in remote places to achieve a more adequate organizational interaction between people and nature. In any case, it is necessary to analyze the different paths of alternative communities in a global consideration, particularly in different key geographical areas of the Global North. The perspective of more-than-human geographic analysis, founded on the equivalence of humans, animals, and (im)materialities, is adequate study optics.
