From 2014 to 2023, sea levels rose by 4.77 mm per year, exacerbating droughts, floods, and cyclones that jeopardize the four pillars of food security: availability, access, utilization, and stability. Agricultural productivity is declining as disrupted crop cycles, water scarcity, and soil degradation threaten staple crops like wheat and maize. These challenges disproportionately affect low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), undermining economic and nutritional stability. Projections indicate that without effective mitigation efforts, such as sustainable farming practices, streamlined supply chains, and inclusive policymaking, global crop yields could decline by up to 23% by the 2050s. Adaptive governance frameworks, like those in South Africa and the Netherlands, combine sustainability and stakeholder engagement. Iran’s strategies showcase localized solutions, including early warning systems and resource management, to mitigate food insecurity. Bridging global best practices with local adaptations and leveraging technologies like precision agriculture is vital for resilient and equitable food systems in a warming world.
