This chapter provides an overview of the situation of undernutrition in Peru. Its origins and evolution are discussed from a historical, ecological, and geographical perspective to contextualize the current situation, present and future challenges. This is followed by a situational analysis and assessment of causes and effects of the main public health problems related to undernutrition in Peru such as Iodine Deficiency Disorders, child stunting, iron deficiency anemia, and food insecurity. Finally, key reflections and messages are highlighted.
