The Suriname tapeti (Fig. 1), also Suriname lowland forest cottontail (Sylvilagus parentum Ruedas, 2017), was described based on specimens collected in western Suriname in the 1980s by Hoogmoed (1983). Originally misidentified as a subspecies of S. brasiliensis, it was elevated to species status on the basis of its morphological distinctiveness with respect to the nominotypical form of S. brasiliensis (Ruedas et al., 2017).

摘要

The Suriname tapeti (Fig. 1), also Suriname lowland forest cottontail (Sylvilagus parentum Ruedas, 2017), was described based on specimens collected in western Suriname in the 1980s by Hoogmoed (1983). Originally misidentified as a subspecies of S. brasiliensis, it was elevated to species status on the basis of its morphological distinctiveness with respect to the nominotypical form of S. brasiliensis (Ruedas et al., 2017).
