In this chapter various line commutated converter (LCC) HVDC connection arrangements are presented. The building blocks to construct these arrangements are introduced and then the general theory of LCC converter theory is explained, starting with the ideal case, and then introducing various practical constraints that lead to a practical design of LCC converter, covering both rectifier and inverter operation. Using the understanding of the basic operation of a converter, the combination and operation of two converters to form a point-to-point HVDC connection is discussed.

摘要

In this chapter various line commutated converter (LCC) HVDC connection arrangements are presented. The building blocks to construct these arrangements are introduced and then the general theory of LCC converter theory is explained, starting with the ideal case, and then introducing various practical constraints that lead to a practical design of LCC converter, covering both rectifier and inverter operation. Using the understanding of the basic operation of a converter, the combination and operation of two converters to form a point-to-point HVDC connection is discussed.
