Back to Back LCC and VSC HVDC Scheme Examples
摘要
Back-to-Back (BtB) HVDC schemes are typically used to interconnect AC systems, which cannot be operated synchronously. They can either be used to connect synchronous systems with the same frequency that have different AC system limits or characteristics, or to connect systems that operate at different frequencies e.g. 50 and 60 Hz. This configuration is applicable for both LCC and VSC systems. Because there is no transmission line or cable in this configuration and losses for these do not need to be minimised, the DC current is selected to be as high as the equipment capability will allow and the DC voltage is low. When there is a requirement for higher reliability, two or more BtB systems can be operated in parallel. Some significant applications of this technology are described in this chapter, which also describes how BtB HVDC technology can provide control features that improves the performance of the connected AC systems. Some of these HVDC systems were selected to illustrate the application of Back-to-Back HVDC links.
