Positive Airway Pressure Treatment for Sleep Apnea
摘要
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a syndrome characterized by complete or partial blockages in the upper respiratory tract during sleep, causing sleep splitting, arousals, and frequent oxyhemoglobin desaturation. When left untreated, OSA results in problems such as excessive sleepiness in the day time, impaired cognitive functions, hypertension, and even stroke, which lead to negative consequences, including increased traffic accidents and decreased quality of life for the patients as well as their partners [1].
