In contemporary societies, innovation has become not only a central demand and driving force of societal development but also a phenomenon whose production and consequences are constantly monitored, for example, via an institutionalized scientific discipline or a management profession. This trend appears to be connected to overarching societal changes toward reflection, as captured in the concepts of reflexive innovation and reflexive modernity. Starting from the widespread thesis of an increasingly reflexive mode of innovation (1), we propose to systematize the manifold concepts of reflexivity in innovation research (2). The main part of our chapter examines recent sociological concepts of reflexive innovation against the backdrop of various theories of reflexive modernization (3), as these theories have garnered considerable attention and hold potential to enrich innovation research. The theories we discuss are those of reflexive modernization developed by Ulrich Beck, Anthony Giddens, Scott Lash, and Niklas Luhmann. 摘要

In our outlook, we propose to formulate a multilevel perspective to analyze dispositifs of reflexive innovation (4).
