摘要
This comprehensive species-specific chapter covers all known aspects of the Cryptotis nigrescens species group, which consists of at least eight species from Guerrero, Mexico, through Central America to the Colombian Andes: C. brachyonyx (Woodman, Proc Biol Soc Wash 116:853–872, 2003); C. colombianus (Woodman and Timm, Fieldiana Zool 74:1–30, 1993); C. hondurensis (Woodman and Timm, Proc Biol Soc Washington 105:1–12, 1992); C. lacandonensis (Guevara et al., J Mammal 95:739–753, 2014); C. mayensis (Merriam 1901); C. merriami (Choate, J., Univ Kans Publ Mus Nat Hist 19:195–317, 1970); C. merus E. A. Goldman 1912; and C. nigrescens (J. A. Allen, 1895). It includes systematics, distribution, genetics, morphology, life history, ecology, behavior, human threats, and natural population impacts. Species conservation management and future research challenges are addressed.
