Over the past five decades, zombies have become a key framing device by which scholars have critiqued aspects of twentieth-century life. From consumerism to the context of the post-apocalypse to framing “the other” zombies and the semiotics of the undead have become a broad arena for critical study. Zombies have also featured extensively within contemporary children’s media and can be framed to represent various child or teen social anxieties. This chapter will explore the representation of zombies and undead signifiers that appear within children’s media, specifically television, and present an argument that zombies have, over the past five decades, slowly crept into the consciousness of broadcasting and have now become commonplace within the pantheon of monsters present within children’s media.

摘要
