The concept of participation economics has been recently proposed for Islamic economics, drawing upon a participation approach that is already established in both Islamic economics and Islamic finance. This system is predicated on the foundational principle that all individuals are equal and brothers/sisters, and that property rightfully belongs to Allah. It is founded on the underlying philosophy that people are not a resource but a value, and that they should participate in life. Participation in life is not merely a matter of employment; it is also an obligation. The participation economy is a distinctive model proffered by Islamic economics to the contemporary world. This model eschews the profit-maximization approach characteristic of the classical/conventional capitalist system while also transcending the state-centric structure that is a hallmark of the socialist system. This approach is predicated on the tenets of individual freedom, social solidarity, and equitable distribution. Consequently, the participation economy is regarded as a significant theoretical and practical reference point in contemporary discourse on Islamic economics.
