Bank Melli was founded in 1927 during the reign of Reza Shah Pahlavi. The bank has consistently held a prominent role in Iran’s economic landscape, providing a range of services, including the issuance of banknotes, for an extended period. It has been recognized as one of the preeminent banking institutions in the Islamic world and has notably held a leading position in the Iranian corporate landscape during various historical periods. Presently, the bank’s workforce numbers approximately 40,000 individuals, operating across a network of over 2500 branches worldwide.
