Regionalization and the Uneven Landscape of Migration
摘要
This chapter examines the dynamic interplay between regionalization and migration, emphasizing the uneven landscape of inequality and governance that characterize migrants’ experiences across the globe. We explore how regional integration initiatives and policies interact with global migration patterns, shaping the rights of migrants and their socioeconomic opportunities. By analyzing regional migration governance initiatives of ECOWAS in Africa and Schengen Area in Europe, we underscore the threats and opportunities arising from the intersection of regionalization and international migration. The chapter provides valuable insights into the threats of managing migration at both regional and global contexts. It elicits migration governance that will balance migrants’ rights, inequality, and socioeconomic opportunities.
