Reducing Inequality on Disability Through Research
摘要
This chapter examines how research methodologies can reduce disability inequality and empower persons with disabilities to achieve equitable societal participation. It explores the persistent disparities faced by disabled individuals in education, employment, and healthcare, highlighting systemic barriers rooted in negative attitudes, discrimination, and inadequate policies. The chapter demonstrates that research serves as a crucial tool for amplifying marginalized voices, challenging stereotypes, and informing evidence-based interventions. Particular emphasis is placed on inclusive and participatory research practices that position persons with disabilities as coresearchers rather than passive subjects. Through qualitative methodologies, researchers can capture the complexity of lived experiences and translate findings into meaningful policy changes. The analysis incorporates case studies illustrating how collaborative research approaches have successfully influenced accessibility standards and resource allocation. Future directions emphasize intersectionality, longitudinal studies, technological innovations, and policy impact assessments to advance disability rights and social justice.
