Ischiofemoral impingement is a rather uncommon disorder caused by impingement of the quadratus femoris muscle between the lesser trochanter and the ischial tuberosity. It causes pain in the lower buttock, groin, and/or medial thigh, and the pain can also radiate down toward the knee along the sciatic nerve territory. This chapter provides a comprehensive review of the etiology and risk factors associated with ischiofemoral impingement, as well as diagnostic and treatment options, including both non-surgical and surgical regimes.
