Although arguably one of the most famous and influential women of the English Renaissance, Anne Boleyn is rarely examined as a writer, nor is she understood to have contributed to the early modern women’s writing canon. However, with developments in theories of attribution, circulation, and reception in early modern women’s literary scholarship, it becomes clear that Boleyn indeed should be examined alongside other early modern women writers and that she has a diverse body of work worthy of investigation. This entry complements the entry on Boleyn’s life and queenship by bringing together the evidence of her writing and textual activity throughout her life, as well as the works that circulated in her name after her death, to present an emerging literary corpus for examination.
