Morphological and Microscopic Characteristics of Caterpillar Mushroom: Ophiocordyceps sinensis
摘要
Ophiocordyceps sinensis is an entomopathogenic fungi boasted for its tremendous medicinal attributes. It is commonly known as caterpillar fungus and termed as “Himalayan Viagra” for its aphrodisiac properties. Fungal identification requires a detailed study of its micromorphological and macromorphological characters because most mushrooms share an overlapping character within the group. The chapter will provide a detailed protocol for the identification of micromorphological and micromorphological characters of O. sinensis.
