Pollen cryopreservation is a vital technique for the long-term conservation of genetic resources and breeding programs of medicinal and aromatic plants. Alpinia galanga, a member of the Zingiberaceae family, is widely recognized for its medicinal and culinary properties. However, challenges related to seasonal pollen availability and viability loss necessitate efficient cryopreservation strategies. This study presents a standardized protocol for Alpinia galanga pollen cryopreservation, encompassing pollen collection, viability assessment, dehydration, storage in liquid nitrogen (−196 °C), and post-thaw viability testing. The optimized protocol ensures high pollen viability post-cryopreservation, enabling its use in hybridization programs and genetic conservation efforts. This approach enhances breeding efficiency and supports the sustainable utilization of Alpinia galanga in pharmaceutical and agro-industrial applications.
