Amino acids and biogenic amines are essential molecules for sustaining cellular metabolism. While the use of high-performance liquid chromatography may be a preferred method for the analysis of amino acids, gas chromatography has its advantages with simple, fast methods with high resolution and accuracy. The following method describes a simple and effective method of analysis using gas chromatography coupled with flame ionization detection. Using propyl chloroformate as a derivatization agent, 17 amino acids and five biogenic amines can be successfully analyzed with a high accuracy (>90%) and precision (RSD <3.5).

摘要

Amino acids and biogenic amines are essential molecules for sustaining cellular metabolism. While the use of high-performance liquid chromatography may be a preferred method for the analysis of amino acids, gas chromatography has its advantages with simple, fast methods with high resolution and accuracy. The following method describes a simple and effective method of analysis using gas chromatography coupled with flame ionization detection. Using propyl chloroformate as a derivatization agent, 17 amino acids and five biogenic amines can be successfully analyzed with a high accuracy (>90%) and precision (RSD <3.5).
